Hello everyone! First let me introduce myself. I am Lucian Kaine and I hail from the OSI shard Chesapeake. I began my ventures in Ultima Online in the year 1998 and continued to play until I quit shortly after the release of the Samurai Expansion. With that being said I'm faced with a huge learning curve here on UOT; which I am perfectly okay with. However, I have so many questions haha. 1. Templates: I don't even know where to begin. I enjoy dungeon crawling/hunting, this is where 90-95% of my gameplay occurs. I chose a Mage/Tamer/Bard template because it was always one of my favorite for farming large amounts of gold fast; which would enable me to grasp a foothold here on the shard to work other skills/characters. However, it seems that I may have chosen unwisely. I'm getting smoked on most occasions on the Trammel side, and I'm completely out of my league on the Tartarus side. I know that this era has a lot to do with items, so maybe that's the problem or maybe changing a few skills out would help. Any insight on this would be great. 2. Chivalry/Necromancy/Focus/Bushido/Ninjitsu: Could someone please shed some light on these skills/spells and possibly give me an example of a template or two where they would be effective (more so for PvM). I would greatly appreciate it. 3. Lag in Tartarus: Does anyone else experience this? Maybe it has something to do with my rig, but it seems like every time I step into a dungeon I freeze for about 5-10 seconds. I'm guessing its because the spawns are much larger and maybe my rig cant handle loading all the pixels while running lol. If there is anything I might be able to adjust on my rig that you know of, I would be forever in your debt lol. I'm a Deputy Sheriff here in Georgia where I live and I'm currently on night shift, so I have tons of time to play. If anyone wants to get together in game to run around and show me the ropes and or talk, please feel free to PM me when you see me in game. Thank you all for taking the time to read this and I appreciate everyone who has helped me get started thus far! Looking forward to getting to know you all and learning everything this awesome server has to offer! Attachments:

Hello Lucian, First welcome around! Always glad to see new hunters. I'll try to answer some of your questions, even it'll be tainted by my point of view 1/ I am definitely not a tamer and Alk or Benjamin will be able to answer better then me. But from my experience, you need first to up your pet slots to 8. You also have to found special pets to increase your strength, especially the ones like the Drow dragons. Tamers are a really good class and you should be safe alone in Trammel and most of the Tartarus facet with a medium template (a good pet, GM in all your skills and 1 or 2 120 power scrolls) 2/ To be short, major advantages are: Chivalry really high damages. Necro really high survivability/regen. Focus nothing, drop it. bushido parrying without a shield at a very good rate and best whirlwind damages. Ninjutsu depends of your game-play for one or two tricky spells: For example Amair changed the mirror image to have a clone of yourself using the pets capabilities (stop, kill, guard,...) for a short time. Basic templates are the sampire: 120 Necro, spirit speak, chiv, bushi, parrying, tactics, anat, heal with a 2H weapon. With an Artifact stuff (really high end) you can hit at 300+ with a lot of regen/leech capabilities. Works well but you need tons of gold for your gears. 3/ I am playing from France but I not experience such of lag. Loading a dungeon took time but after that it is playable. I have lot issue in the evening but it comes from my side and are not specific to the server. I don't know where you are in your character's progression but my advice is: 1rst collect gold and raise your skills to GM (solen hive is a good place for that) and start soulstone quest to max the number of templates you can use/test. 2nd start to kill insurgents and collect medallions -> 120 PS + additional stuff then start the Davy Jones quest. 3rd Farm artifacts and Tartarus. Last thing, Magics are really powerful around. As a primary skill or at least at support, Magic skills are mandatory for the high end. I'll not be connected so much till mid May, but don't hesitate if you need more details. Cheers, Yhaguen

Some good advice above (no surprise) . . also we do have some good crafters on the shard who can spellcraft some nice equipment. Sacre Bleu and Deathmule are two examples but there are others as well. Getting to know one of them could be very helpful.
If you have a character with some solid fighting skills (as Yhaguen suggests above) and also have some good equipment then the Ninjitsu spell 'Mirror Image' can summon a true duplicate of you (with all your skills and equipment) to fight for you so you are not alone. The Mirror will obey all pet commands and will last longer if your skill is higher. If a creature attacks you before you attack it then the Mirror will immediately come to your aid (otherwise you will have to command the Mirror to attack). They can be dispelled but you can quickly summon another one when the first disappears. With practice you can deplete a magic casting creatures Mana in this way.
Welcome to the shard. have fun my friend.
Cheers

Tamers rely on thier pets so you will absoultly need to find a tank that's neer 1800 health or better in order for it to be of any use on Tartarus.
Greater Dragons and other exalted beasts are fairly easy to aquire It just needs to have the skills to pay the bills. And will probally take a few eggs to get one that's going to be strong enough "Eggs" are rewarded when you tame an exalted beast. upon success there is a *cough* small chance you will recieve an egg. Hatched pets will not cary over stats from thier parent. The new pet stats are completely random so Animal Lore is redundant pre tame.
Drow Dragons when killed have a chance to drop a Drow Egg. This can be a force to recon with if you end up hatching a Drow with over 2k health.
My personal favorite are the non exalted non shrinkable Tartarus only versions. Thies you can lore and they keep a higher % of stats if not all of them when tamed. But you can't shrink/stable them so your pet slots will be tapped.

Thank you all very much for your replies and insight. I'm having a blast here, just a ton to learn for an old school UO guy . Makes it more interesting. I'm going to put all of everyone's advice to use for sure! Sacre Bleu has been a god send with all the help he has provided my friends and I. It is greatly appreciated it. I apologize up front if I ever seem to be annoying with all of the questions lol, but my plan is to make UOT my home; so I promise your efforts wont be wasted. Thanks again everyone! See you all in game!

Hello! I am Moth in game. I will be on Friday evening, as my girlfriend has a ladies night out. Maybe my son will come over, so he will be on too... I myself am still trying to figure out the perfect template as i have a tamer too, and seem to get my butt handed to me on occasion... i have found that when paired with my son who is a Dexer/swords skill whilst using a katana i can go old school and let him attach while keeping him healed. On night we had 2 mages and him, and we rocked the tera keep and Hyloth.
I am central time as i am in Texas. Hit me up in game if you are on that night.
Oh and as a claims adjuster for auto accidents i appreciate when you guys fill out a detailed accident report, makes my job so much easier! Also thank you for what you do! It is appreciated!

Hail Moth! Nice to meet you brother! I've noticed that after completing the bard quest and achieving some bard related power scrolls I've been doing much better. As far as Taming goes, I was blessed with kindness and received a trade deal from another veteran player and acquired a Drow Dragon egg. I've been busy leveling it and am looking forward to seeing it in action once it's stronger. I'm here on UOT with my Father (Jebadiah), Brother (Purty Pie) and IRL Bestie lol (Draconis). We play often and are always up for dungeon crawls with groups. The same goes for you and your son, if you all happen to see us on please holler out and maybe we can get together for a hunt! I'm on duty this weekend so I won't be on much, but I'll be available and on most of next weekend. Lol, a good report is a must and thank you for what you do as well! I've needed and benefited from folks in your field a number of times . Hope to see you in game friend, until then I wish you success and fortune in all your adventures! Oh yea, and I'm on EST time out of Georgia , but I play a LOT lol
