The Plight of the Pleiades
This is a Tartarus Quest and is difficult. You can try this quest solo or in a group but if you go as a group you could run into difficulties at two or more points if more than one person in your group is also trying to do the quest. It may be best to have one person in the group accept the quest with the others as helpers, then switch around for the next person. Regardless you should find it a challenge.
'Many a night I saw the Pleiades
rising through the mellow shade
glitter like swarming fire-flies
tangled in a silver braid.'
. . . Lord Tennyson
The Pleiades are seven sisters (Maia, Electra, Taygete, Alcyone, Celaeno, Asterope and Merope). They were given a place in the sky by their father the great lord Zeus. They dwell happily in the heavens and on a clear night you can see their smiles shine bright.
But all is not perfect between the realm of the gods and the prime material plane where people dwell. Poseidon lord of the sea is often angered by Zeus and his stars. Sailors use them to plough his waters in the night making Poseidon restless. From time to time Poseidon's anger errupts. Then, to inhibit nightly ship navigation he takes the Pleiades and causes the four Anemoi (wind gods) to scatter them to the ends of the world.
Orion (the Hunter) has always been sweet on Merope the youngest of the seven Pleiades. He will help you in your quest to save them. Orion roams in the area of the Dinas Affaraon Moongate. Talk to Orion to begin this adventure.
Orion will help you find one of the four Anemoi (winged wind gods):
1) Boreas god of the North Wind
2) Notus god of the South Wind
3) Eurus god of the East Wind
4) Zephyrus god of the West Wind
You must beat it into submission to obtain a book telling where the sisters are being held in guarded imprisonment.
When you kill a guard it will drop a key to a sister's cell door in your backpack. As you save a sister she will join the ether leaving you with a symbol of her star. When you have all seven symbols you can 'double tap' one of them to open a portal for the dangerous road to Zeus.
Wandering the labyrinth road to Zeus you will face many monsters. They will test you and with luck one or some may open a Portal across to the obstructed final part of the path. There you will meet one who can get you to the Temple of Zeus.
The great lord Zeus will grant you one of the seven types of wishes that he offers:
- Protection (1 Armor/Shield Artifact)
- Power (1 Vanquishing Weapon Artifact)
- Travel (a random Special Travel Book)
- Health (1 of a set of new Special Jewlery)
- Agility (1 of a set of new Special Jewlery)
- Wisdom (1 of a set of new Special Jewlery)
- Resurection (shrinkable steed can rez owner)
Plus:
- a Random amount of Tradium
- a Random +5 skill raising Scroll
- a Random amount of Tradian Blood
- 7 Special Gems (value to be determined)
The quest has a 12 hour cool down period.
Note: The quest must be completed (from start to finish) within 12 hours or start over.
