PVP reluctance

Hello,

I know Ultima isnt a pvp-centric game, but why ignore everything pvp? Even though its just a small piece of the pie, why is it impossible to make it a quality piece of pie? Doesn't have to be the focus of the game.

On the UO-Traditions shard PvP is allowed on the Tartarus (customized Felucca) facet.

As a player long ago I was never personally a PvPer but did spend three enjoyable years on a fully PvP shard (now defunct). While there I learned that PvP can actually add a degree of fun/excitement and be done in a 'civilized' way from a roleplaying perspective. This is the kind of PvP I find acceptable. I still remember the first time (long ago) when Dr. Greenthumb chased me around Minoc in Felucca. My heart was pounding even though I had nothing real to lose. Seeing a 'Red' in the woods can be more exciting than facing down any dragon.

While I have never tried to promote PvP, we are not afraid to embrace it on the Tartarus facet provided it does not border on 'griefing'. My idea of PvP for us is something that enhances the feel of our world rather than running people off the shard. The many people who killed me on AI years ago always helped me out after I got Rezed and eventually became some of my best friends there.

If any here wish to PvP - I insist you adhere to our number one rule 'Be respectful of others'. That means the people behind the toon. We have a community that is inclusive of families including some children so be vigilant and kind in that regard.

For PvPers:
Following someone around like a village idiot so you can endlessly pound them into the ground will land you in hot water here fast. I also see no satisfying value in stripping an opponent's body naked just because you can or engaging in abusive rants.

For PvMers and Others:
You can 'Insure' your valuable equipment to keep it safe or you can have it 'Blessed'. At the end of the day . . we live in a game.

So . . If anyone wants to put on a PvP event I will help. At the moment we have an interesting set up for tournaments in Kerguelen (Jhelom) as well as the Jousting Arena (Red Gate at the Luna Event house).
