Do you need to join the thieves guild in order to steal and if so, where?
Trying to train stealing and when stealing the rotten tomatoes in gypsy camp, it says I must join the thieves guild in order to steal from other players, even though I am trying to steal a tomato from a crate on the ground.

As far as we know . . there are no tomatoes in crates in the Arete Isle gypsy camp.
On the other hand . . to join a thieves guild you should get some gold then talk to the Thief Guildmaster in Bucs Den.

As far as we know . . there are no tomatoes in crates in the Arete Isle gypsy camp. There is a crate on the ground near the satyr. It has rotten tomatoes in it. Even the name of the crate says "Rotten Tomatoes."  I think I am just looking as to how to macro the stealing of items in a crate/box/etc. Using item type results in the message from my first post. |

Have you tried stealing armor items from the Barrels close by there? Those are designed to train Stealing.
