I was just wondering where these are acquired? I've hunted the ents, and cut a fair number of the tradian trees, but I've never seen a single one.. Am I on th eright track? Thanks

Fighters can kill Treefellows for them. Treefellows have a 10% chance of dropping them (Bloodwood Treefellow drops the Bloodwood Runic Fletcher's Tool etc etc).
Also high end Fletchers have a 26% chance to get them if they create an 'exceptional' item requested by the Quest giver in the Fletcher Crafting Quest

One follow up question Amairgen, when you say treefellows do you mean the mobs that look like the treefellows named Ent? Or do you mean the actual treefellow named mobs? I was exploring Tart yew and I found a small clutch of actual named treefellows, but they were all cedar. I've killed probably four dozen of them, to no effect, but I've only taken down about 12 of the actual named tree fellows. I've not seen any runics in any case, so I'm just wondering if I'm hunting the wrong mob maybe.. Thanks

The ones you need are 'actually' named Treefellow. The cedar treefellow has a 10% chance to drop the Cedar Runic Fletcher's Tool.
