Shadow Wyrms are now tamable if you have enough skill (111 absolute minimum to have any chance) and enough control slots (they take 6 slots).
You will need to do the Tamer quest for the tamer Powerscrolls and the Pet Slot Potions. If you have high Bard skills (Peacemaking) it will come in handy.
