Crafting:
Crafters on UOT can make all the usual items but can also make many new items that players will find important. For the most part - armor and weapons crafted by high end crafters will be better than any similar item available in game.
In the same way that Blacksmiths need to be near a Forge and/or Anvil, all other crafters now need to be near a 'Crafting Control Item' for their particular craft. All the new 'Crafting Control Items' are available in special craft guildhalls throughout the land. There is a large craft hall in the central part of the Isle of Arete that contains most of the required 'Crafting Control Items'.
'Crafting Control Items' can be made by Tinkers and sold to players for use in their homes. Generally speaking - crafting cannot be done while walking down the street or out in the woods.
Many of the new craftable items require gathering some new custom resources. The custom resources and 'Crafter Power Scrolls' are available to crafters by doing relatively risk free crafting quests.
Crafters with high skills can make 'exceptional' items. They can also use 'Recipes', 'Runic Tools', 'Spell Crafting' and 'Imbuing' to make these items even better.
Here is an alphabetical listing of the UOT Crafts
Alchemy:
All the traditional potions can be made but use of potions is more important to warriors on UOT. In the same way that some can use bandages while fighting, now warriors with one hand free (using one-handed weapons) can also use potions.
Note: the higher your Poisoning skill the more resistant you become to poison and Legendary Poisoners have full immunity.
Ancient Alchemy:
The potions made from this almost lost art have special uses which range from shrinking pets to resurrecting the dead. In addition a 'Staff Imbuing Potion' can be made for Fletchers to use in the process of carving magically imbued staves.
Basket Making:
Carpenters are able to make a variety of baskets using a 'Basket Making Tool' and Basket making materials.
Blacksmithy:
Smiths make 99.9% of the possible armor and weapons players can use. They are more important on UOT because the NPC vendors on UOT sell only the very basic items. Smiths are also able to make vital repairs when required.
Bowcraft/Fletching:
This craft can make all the traditional items plus a some new bows that rangers will find most helpful. Fletchers can use an 'Ancient Staff Carving Blade' and the Staff Imbuing potion to create many different magical staves. These staves are not only good for fighting, they can also be used to summon Moongates, Elementals, and basically all manner of things possible using magical spells.
Carpentry:
Carpenters in UOT make special items required for quests and can even make small medium and large boats. They make a long list of furniture and home addons for players. They make musical instruments for tamers or bards and a variety of staves for warriors. They can also Imbue the Arete Gauntlet Staff.
Cooking:
Cooks can make a wide variety of food related things. On UOT they can also make 'Alcoholic Beverages', 17 different 'Colored Dyes' and 'Rolled Papyrus' used to make 'Paintings' and 'Treasure Maps'.
Cooks can also make Alcoholic Beverages. The only alcohol sold by Innkeepers, Barkeepers and waiters are pitchers of wine and liquor. Cooks and make and sell a much wider selection. They can make various beers, ales, grog, ciders, wines, mead and whiskies with a Tinker crafted 'Alcohol Making Kit' by using various combinations of the following:
- Water
- Hops (from Farmer)
- Malt (from Farmer)
- Barley (from from Farmer)
- Honey Combs (from Wild Beehives)
- Ear of Corn (harvested or from Farmer)
- Brewers Yeast (from Farmer)
- Empty Alcohol Bottle (from Glassblower)
- Empty Beer Bottle (from Glassblower)
- Wheat (harvested or from Farmer)
- Apples, Grapes, Lemons, Limes Oranges, Peaches and Pears (harvested or from Farmer)
Glass Blowing:

Inscription:
UOT scribes have some very special abilities. In addition to making all the usual scrolls they can also make the following:
- Blank Scrolls
- Real Treasure Maps
- Ancient Travel Book (offering a menu of cities)
- Artifact Enhancing Tomes
- Item Identification Scrolls
- Recharge Scrolls (add charges to Wands)
Note: Items dropped as loot do not have all of their properties 'Identified'. Players can use their Item ID Skill to discover the true properties of these items or they can save those skill points and use a 'Wand of Identification' or an 'Item Identification Scroll'. The NPC vendors in the towns will pay higher prices for items that have been identified.
Marble:
Marble crafters can make special benches and statues as well as the 'Fountains of Life' which can add magical healing powers to bandages.
Masonry:
Masons use granite found by miners to make a variety of statues and furniture. They can also make Gravestone Engravers and open granite blocks to find Marble.
Painting/Artist:
This process is involved but lucrative as it is the only way to get fine art to sell or place in your home.
You need to know a gardener or work at gardening yourself to get the resources required to make the paints. This also adds value to gardening as Gardeners can now choose if they want their plants turned to 'Decorative' or used as a 'Resource' for artists.
Here are the steps/items involved (all obtained doing Crafter Quests):
1) Gardeners now have the option of turning plants into a 'Resource' instead of making them 'Decorative'.
2) Use a 'Plant Mortar' tool (requires Alchemy skill) to grind the plant resources into a paste.
3) Use a 'Paint Kettle' (requires Cooking skill) to mix the paste with other ingredients to make the paints. You first make primary colors but then can mix those to get secondary colors. The 'Paint Kettle must be near a heat source to be used.
4) Obtain a 'Canvas' on which to make your painting.
5) Use a 'Painting Pallet' (requires Inscription skill) to get a menu showing the paintings available and the ingredients needed.
Pottery:
The Potter's Tool (made by Tinkers) can only be used near one of the Potter's Wheels located in the Pottery Guildhall in Trammel in the city of Trinsic. This requires the Cooking skill and the Kilns located there as well. Potters can make a variety of nice Plant Bowls, Flower Pots, Jars, Urns and Vases.
Sewing:
Sewing is an off-shoot of Tailoring and does require the Tailoring skill to make the best items. Using special 'Sewing Shears' players can make Curtains, Pillows and and Folded Towels.
Spellcrafting and Disenchantment:
Crafters who have developed their Alchemy and Inscription skill above 105 have the ability to use the Spellcrafting System (The required items are obtained through quests and mob drops). Using this system, crafters can add four additional useful properties to Armor, Shields, Weapons, Hats and Jewelery. Those with Legendary Alchemy (120) can also use the Disenchantment System to remove unwanted properties from items. Disenchantment frees up space to add a different Spellcrafting property. Together with Spellcrafting it can also be used to switch from Gargoyle Slayer to Dragon Slayer etc.
Tailoring:
Tailors make 99.9% of the possible clothes players can wear. They are more important on UOT because the NPC vendors on UOT sell only the very basic items. Tailors make special 'Sieves' that are needed by cooks and alchemists. They can also 'Imbue Arete Armor' and craft 'Magical Loot Bags'.
Tinkering:
Tinkers play a vital role in the UOT community. They make Jewelry, Multi-Component Items, Parts, Tools, Trapped Containers, Utensils and many Miscellaneous items. They make Hitching posts and Hitching ropes used by Tamers to shrink their pets. They make items needed for certain quests and they make the following special Craft Control Items' that allow other Crafters to make things in their homes:
Tinkers can also use an 'Artifact Enhancing Tome' (crafted by Scribes). In this way the over 200 Artifacts can be customized.
Wax Crafting:
Using a 'Wax Crafting Pot' obtained from the crafting quests, an Alchemist can make many different types of Candles and Decorative Wax Items.
Weaving:
Weaving is another off-shoot of Tailoring. Using a special Weaver's Spool obtained from the Crafter Quests, Tailors can make twelve different tapestries, twelve rugs and eight runners. Players can place these items in their homes.
