Halloween is associated with the Celtic celebration of Samhain from sunset on 31 October to sunset on 1 November. It marked the end of harvest and the begining of the dark time of the year. Cattle were brought down from the summer pastures and some were slaughtered for the winter. Special bonfires were lit and there were rituals involved that were deemed to have protective and cleansing powers.
During Samhain it was believed the veil between the material world and the afterlife thinned. At this time spirits or fairies (the Sí) could more easily enter and become active in the world. Feasts were had, at which the souls of dead kin were beckoned to attend and a place set at the table for them. However, the spirits or fairies could also cause harm, and needed to be propitiated or warded-off. In order to prevent recognition by a soul, people would don masks or costumes to disguise their identities. NOTE: Samhain was celebrated from sunset on 31 October to sunset on 1 November, which is nearly halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice. Here on UOTraditions we will observe Samhain (aka All Hallows Eve - Halloween) from October 26th to November 3rd. Protect yourselves and get spooky.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
The time of Samhain (All Hallows Eve - Halloween) is upon us . . the the veil between the material world and the afterlife has now thinned. This has resulted in spirits (good and evil - mostly evil) entering our world in various forms.
You should 'Talk' to Edgar the Hallower in Umbra (Malas) near the entry to the Bloodletter's Guild for more information about chasing the spirits from our land. There is an 'Orange' gate in the Luna Event House that is open to Edgar's location.
Overview: 1) You can find Samhain spirits in Trammel (Edgar the Hallower knows where) 2) Killing these spirits could yield interesting loot and also 'Medallions' for Edgar 3) With enough 'Medallions' - Edgar can help you find the House of Lost Souls 4) In the House of Lost Souls you can find your way to the Lair of Dullahan the Headless Horseman who has a long rewarding list of potential loot.
Note: - Dullahan not easy (a group might be a good idea) - Pets will not be able to enter or be retrieved in the House of Lost Souls or in Dullahan's Lair
Also: There are three sister witches from Asmodai who have stolen Amairgen's cat and might appear in Trammel. You have permission to discipline any of the sisters you meet. Sadly you may have to do the same with Amairgen's cat who will undoubtedly be under an evil spell.

The cat is EVIL!!! Also I ran into something called a impish devil and it killed my (763 hp) minion, ferret (me), jay, and jay's minion (900+ hp)... in a bout 2 seconds... just saying... it's a bit of an overkill... you've been warned.

If that was in Meropis (Tartarus) then it was me testing something before All Hallows Eve began for us *smiles* If that was anywhere else then we have something lurking about I am unaware of.

It was Meropis, Tartarus. Ahh . . yes . . then it was me testing the critter. If you find him again he will be a bit kinder. You need to 'Talk' to Edgar near the entrance to Bedlam in Umbra (Malas) for information about the Halloween goblins.
