In my humble opinion, there should be only one ore size, but also if would help you maybe a poll about this subject?
It might lighten your to do list if you do not have to fix the problem...

The reason we have smaller sizes is to make skill gain for Smiths faster. I am good to change it if the community wishes. If we change is what size would we go to?

Can't you just add the 3 types to the storage? You should be able to seperate them based on their graphic if not the objecttype. Just an idea but what you are going to do with it and the ore is up to you

Thank you RedRuby - if we were to go with one type - that one or the smallest would be my choice. I say that because the one you picked is also used by the Gem Rock. Can't you just add the 3 types to the storage? You should be able to seperate them based on their graphic if not the objecttype. Just an idea but what you are going to do with it and the ore is up to you Here is the problem. The Storage Containers only accept Static items. Each Static item has its own script that defines it for spawning/availability in the world. There is only one script for Ore which is used by the Harvest/Resource/Mining systems and also randomly generates the four ore sizes using one of four graphics. At the moment I have no idea how this could be split up and still be useful to the various systems which currently look to the Ore script (Note: I have not finished looking). So . . Ore is an item but it can enter the world in one of four shapes each having a different value (for smelting). When Ore is added to a Storage Container the container looks at the Ore script then accepts one of the four random sizes. If you already have a small ore size in the storage container then the stored ore could get changed into a larger size with the addition of extra ore (could also go smaller). When ore is removed from a Storage Container the container again looks to the Ore script then drops one of the four random sizes. If you have the smallest size stored it can drop the largest size. This means . . if you have 6000 small in storage you could drop 6000 large which would be valued at 8 x the original small when it comes to making ingots. Until a solution is found we will not have an Ore Storage Container in our world. This could also be the reason why other shards don't have them - or - the other shards do not have the four sizes. Again - I have not given up on this challenge but I am also/always open to input. Thx

If we go with one ore, then how will ore behave... 2 for 1, 1 for 1, or 1 for 2? also what will the weight be, or would that be determined by the graphic and yield we choose? Also how does smaller ore help a blacksmith gain faster? I'd rather prefer one ore type for definitive stacking, but want to know what will happen to ingot yields per ore mined up.

What a hornet's nest I kicked...
Ore should be 2 ingots per ore pile whatever the pile size it is.
There will be the new world opening up soon (Tarantus?) which probably will give us 3x the resources the current facets currently gives, so us miners can easily gather all the ore we want.

Forget the ore storage chest. Players can either smelt the ore and store it in the ingot chest or keep the unsmelted ore in a regular chest until they can smelt it.
As to the ore size, I'm fine the way it is but if the consensus is to change it to a single size then that is fine also.

Okay - at this point (not saying the topic is fully closed) . . I am leaving the Ore sizes unchanged. I am able to change the Ore script so only one size drops . . but on the Test Centre I am not happy with the results. It appears to me that the change would make some happy and others not so much. At the present time having different sizes has benefits: - If you reduce the ore to the smallest size you can walk around with more ore - The Blacksmith skill is tested for gain every time you smelt ore regardless of size - A macro that pulls out only a couple small size for smelting yields more attempts - At low skill it is safer smelting the small size (lower risk of resource loss) At the present time having different sizes has drawbacks: - At high skill you may get fewer ingots smelting only the small size (rounding) - Creating a Storage Container with multiple ore sizes may not be possible Forget the ore storage chest. Players can either smelt the ore and store it in the ingot chest or keep the unsmelted ore in a regular chest until they can smelt it.
