The First Day – (The Beginning)
I found myself lost and wandering through this city of wonders, something new at every turn, each more amazing than the last. Men and woman dressed in what could only be described as magical armors and riding unusual beasts of burden, mages performing all kinds of wonders, blacksmiths, carpenters, tailors, tinkers, and vendors of all sorts. There were banks, bars, animal trainers, practicing areas for warriors and archers, beautiful park areas to rest in and healers of amazing skill. Everything one could ever look for was found in this new and unusual land that I had suddenly found myself a part of. After seeing all of these wondrous things, I began to doubt my decision to come. For here I was, clad in nothing more than a loincloth, standing next to a magical gateway that led who knows where, while legends strolled by at every turn. How could I hope to survive, to fit in, in this city of wonders? As the fates would have it though I had no choice for here I was and there was no turning back. Still, I guess for you to understand, I’d have to explain my situation and how all this came to be.
The last thing I remembered was darkness all around, except for a single light and a voice calling to me to take my place in this world. I do not remember how I arrived in that void or anything that took place before that time and if truth be told, I find that I am, in some ways, just as lost now as I was before. Still, upon doing as instructed by the disembodied voice, I found that I was self-aware in a world quite different from the inky darkness that I left behind. An office and a man sitting behind a desk were what first things that greeted me. Oddly enough, though I had no memories at all, I seemed to have some understanding of things like language and simple motor skills like walking. I found this new existence exhilarating to say the least and yet there was something wrong, something missing if you will. For now I knew that as much as I had once existed within the void, there now seemed to be a void within me.
I looked around and all the splendor and exquisiteness that surrounded me seemed to have been made by the Gods themselves; or at least some beings of majestic skill. A voice greeted and drew my attention towards it. The man behind the desk, calm and unconcerned by by sudden appearance beckoned me over to him. He seemed warm and unthreatening and so I came closer. He talked to me for a bit, welcomed me to the land and gave me a few tips to orient me then sent me on my way. The door to his office locked behind me as though some invisible hand had turned a key in the lock for I knew he hadn't moved.
The hallways led to various room, many of the mlined with books and men and women walked quietly around the room, studying the words on the pages. Each of them robes in unassuming attire and focused entirely on their work. I looked around a bit at the incredible collection of knowledge and marveled that people such as these could exist whose sole purpose was to study and learn. What an amazing society this must be. I was comforted by this for I somehow knew that it was only during times of peace that people could seem so relaxed and unconcerned foucusing on literature, art and science as these scholars were.
Still my place was not here and I was directed out into the world to find my way. Following the staircase down I exited the building for the first time and was overwhelmed. The beauty of the surrounding structures and parks, the perfectly manicured trees and flowerbeds all threatened to overwhelm me and it was almost more than my senses could handle. I stood there for a few moments, frozen in place and allowed the quiet paradise to slowly sink in. I wandered the village for a while looking for the gentleman that had been mentioned. Knowing that I could make my start in this land by fulfilling this first task. I eventually found him in the common room of the local inn, well actually, he found me.
This man, who claimed to be a guide, noticed me and we started to talk. He told a bit about this place and what to expect. He explained that we were on an island, one that was protected or at least detached from the surrounding world and that I was safe here. He the ntook the time to explain that I could make a decent living here if I chose to but would need to decide on how to best go about that and that there was no rush i nthe meantime while I made up my mind. During the conversation it was mentioned that more gifts awaited me in the safety of the bank and he asked me to drop a package there if I were to stop by. So, with a nod and a thank-you to the kind stranger, I set off to explore this strange and wonderful new world. Not knowing what was in store or where my path may lead but eager now to face the future. And although I was in awe, I knew that a bright and wonderful adventure was mine to be had if I so choose. I am Shaladar and the future is mine.

The first thing I decided to do was head to the bank and see what awaited me there. The guide had told me that there were gifts for me there and, not knowing what else to do, I figured that this was as good a place as any to start. It was then that I realized how my condition and arrival did not seem to surprise anyone. Almost as though it were a normal occurrence and I wondered if the heroes and wizards that I saw passing by and held in such awe, didn’t at one time themselves begin in the same predicament as I. This thought encouraged me and I felt more excited than before because now, not only did I feel that I would be able to survive in this world, I knew that the possibility to excel was entirely in my own hands.
It took me a while to find the bank, not knowing where anything was, but I didn’t mind. Now that I was here however I realized that I didn’t know what to say. Still I had to say something and so planned on telling the clerk how I had arrived and that the guide had mentioned that there might be something here for me. Before all that though I wanted to make sure I was in the right place and not some rich merchants vault area or cashier for a casino or anything like that. I looked the man who worked there and with a questioning gesture asked, “Is this the 'Bank'?” At that he surprised me by saying, “Yes sir, your items are right over here.” He then proceeded to lead me to a chest within the vault. Opening it he left to take care of other business. Guards watched me from the other side of the room but I didn’t mind. In retrospect I guess I didn’t even notice seeing as I was shocked by what greeted me.
I was beginning to wonder if maybe the clerk hadn’t confused me with someone else but I needed some clothes and some supplies and decided to take a small amount to purchase what I needed. My thought was that if there were a mistake then I would repay them later.
Taking the gold I needed, I left the key and the package with the teller and left the bank. When I handed over the package the teller thanked me and gave what he explained was a magical pouch which would allow me to deposit and withdraw gold from my bank box regardless of where I was. Such a wonder and delight. I had no idea how I would get or earn gold to deposit but just the thought of it made my head spin and I knew at that moment that there was no other place I'd rather be.
These were my first moments, and I have since seen many more wonderful and horrible things during my travels but in all I have never looked back, nor have I ever been disappointed by my coming here to this land.
