Greetings all
I have been away from UO for quite some time. I played mostly on Chesapeake and Pacific... with some characters on other shards. Along with 5 real life friends we created the Rangers of Yew guild... which had some incarnation on any OSI shard I played on.
After some tough economic times, and friends leaving... I decided to leave UO. A year or so later I discovered free shards.. and played on several.... even staffed on a few. Had a lot of fun but eventually got away from it. Started playing WoW about 5 years ago... but always missed something in it and any other MMORPG I tried.
UO was my first, and the level of camaraderie... the complexity of crafting, house building and the feeling of playing in a vast sandbox... where you could make your character who you wanted to be... and not just a cookie cutter clone of every other [insert class here] was engaging.
I stumbled on an old UO Gateway link in my favorites and decided to click on it and give it a look.... the next thing I know I'm scrolling thru shards and downloading clients. And here I am. As one of the other posters said... I was always against the auto have all skills at max... I enjoyed planning and plotting out the skills I wanted for a particular character. 700 was limiting but 1200 feels just right... especially in creating a Master Craftsman.
So, if you got thru my wall of text... I'm Andrathien, Elven Archer-Mage and Cavanaugh, Master Craftsman in training (a lot of training) and I think I have found my new home, reminiscent of my old homes.
See you in game
Ben
