Over the past few weeks we have had some pets disappearing.
We take challenges like this seriously so if something like this ever happens to you . . information is very helpful to us in explaining and/or solving the problem.
If this happens to you please make some careful notes about:
1) what kind of pet was it?
2) what you were doing at the time you noticed your pet gone?
3) what your pet was doing at the time it disappeared?
4) where were you and your pet (facet - dungeon etc) when it disappeared?
The more specific detail you can provide the better.
NOTE: If you are logging out or if you get notice of an impending server reboot: - make sure you are mounted on your pet, or - make sure your pet is 'Shrunk' into your pack, or - make sure your pet is 'Parked' on a pet post.
Also . . while we do not expect pets to lose 'Loyalty' it would be a good idea to check and note your pets 'Loyalty' status regularly until we clarify/solve the problem.
Thanks

Also, it wouldn't hurt to do periodic bonding checks. If a non-bonded pet does, it goes poof. If you notice your pet unbounded, make sure it gets re-bonded and let Amairgen know about that. It's possible pets are un-bondingwhen we don't expect it.

I traded a dragon to one of my other characters this morning, shrink it and it said I was the owner, but it was not bonded. I reshrunk it, and still said I was the owner, but it never bonded. I used a bonding powder on it and it became bonded.
So, I think one of the issues is the trading of pets and thinking they are bonded even though it says you're the owner.

That could be the problem . . if not it looks like it is part of the problem. I will check to see what all scripts are involved in the Bonding/Unbonding process and try to get that one solved for us. Frankly (as someone who was never a Tamer) I fail to see what real purpose is served by 'Bonding' other than inconvenience. I will let people know if a change is made Thanks for the great insight. Cheers

Bonding allows your pet to recall with you and to become a ghost when it dies. When an unbonded pet dies, it just goes poof, never to been from again. Bonded pets can be resurrected. It's a huge deal to get pets bonded as a tamer...

It's a huge deal to get pets bonded as a tamer... Yep . . . and this happened to me only recently with an evo pet. I have two tamers in my family, and a pet that was only ever taken out by one of my chars went out with a different character, but they didn't recall with me within and across facets. We got to a Tartarus dungeon where she died. The ghost never appeared and a trip to the pet retrieval told me, "you have no lost pets to retrieve". Bonding is super important to a tamer. Btw, Amairgen worked with me to get my scenario sorted. Lesson learned for future though, particularly where evo pets are concerned!

Thank you Tracina and Tauriel for this added insight.
Yes! . . if a pet is not bonded to you the risks of losing it are magnified. If you transfer a pet to anyone else (another 'family' member or some other player) either through the 'Transfer' menu or from your Pet Post) the pet will not be bonded to the new 'Owner'. I recommend not transferring or accepting a transfer unless the new owner is aware of the dangers and/or has some 'Pet Bonding Powder'.
