As many here know, UO-Traditions has several thousand 'Special' Artifacts that drop in:
1) Monster loot,
2) Quest rewards and
3) High level: Dungeon chests, T-Map chests and Sunken chests
These 'Special' Artifacts (Armor, Jewelery, Shields and Weapons) are identifiable by their colored names and colored messages at the bottom of their properties list and they can be enhanced making them quite useful.
To Enhance these 'Special' Artifacts you needed Tradium coins, Ancient Gems as well as several of the same artifact item to complete the process. This meant that in the past you needed to get 2 of the same artifact item in order to enhance them into 1 of the next higher level. Given the thousands of 'Special' Artifacts involved combined with the random nature they drop, we found it was overly difficult to obtain 1 of the highest level. Basically you would have needed 8 of the same 'Basic' item in order to enhanced them all the way to 1 of the same item at the highest level. The frustrations involved were pointed out to us and we agree.
So . . Good News and a Caution.
The Good News:
Today we brought in a significant change to the 'Special' Artifact enhancement system. We hope this relieves frustrations and at the same time gives better purpose to Tradium Coins and Medallions of Courage.
Now you will only need one (not two) of the 'Special' Artifacts for the enhancement system . . but as before you still also need:
1) Tradium Coins (dropped on Tartarus 'Tradian' monsters, some quest monsters or quest rewards and some special monsters in other parts of the realm)
2) Medallions of Courage (dropped by Insurgents and city Invaders)
3) Ancient Gems (carved from miner dug Gem Rock using a Gem Carving blade made by Tinkers)
4) Artifact Enhancement Tomes (made by a Scribe that provide the instructions and crafting menus)
While the number of 'Special' Artifacts needed has been greatly reduced, the number of Coins, Medallions and Gems needed has risen but they are easier to obtain.
The Caution:
We have reviewed the changes and completed primary testing of the system on our Test Server. It appears to be working fine . . However . . given the number of interrelated files (thousands) involved with this system there is a chance we missed something. If you notice anything amiss or lose anything in the process, please let us know.
* Many Thanks to Nym Elvensong for this suggestion *
Sorry this took so long to complete . . now we can get back to working on the 'Honey Do List (HDL)' which has other great ideas from the community.
Cheers
