Hello to all who love Ultima.
This (as of today) is a 'recap' of our realm . . the UO-Traditions 'Freeshard'.
We privately started planning and development UO-Traditions (UOT) on August 01, 2010. Over the next two months we obtained and configured a dedicated Server, Router, Domain registration, DYDNS services, Website and Forum as well as configuring the Server Files and Game Files etc.
From there 2 1/2 years was spent planning and working (out of the public eye). We started with the Crafters and built the economy outward from there. We designed and built custom aspects of the world, scripted to create fresh experiences then tested and tweaked and tested some more. Seriously . . thousands of hours went into the process from the August 01, 2010 start until UO-Traditions became public and opened for players on December 22, 2012.
The Ultima concept held that the world in its crystal environment had shattered into thousands of small shard like replications of itself. Some shards died and some survived. UO-Traditions became one of those surviving shards. Each shard evolved in its own way and UO-Traditions is no exception. This has allowed us to develop new lands, new challenges and new experiences all while continuing the Ultima 'Tradition'.
While today all remaining shards may be unique, we feel ours stands apart:
1) Our world is a 100% 'free' playing experience with nothing for sale and no donations ever accepted. That will not change.
2) We are a world where all come equal with equal opportunity to grow without spending real money for a gaming advantage.
3) We ask for and are open to player ideas which are seriously considered and very often implemented within our context.
4) Our citizens ideas and dreams are our greatest resource for fine tuning and implementing new and fresh experiences.
5) We evolved in wonderful ways but our world remains true to the look, feel and interactions of the original Ultima.
6) We created tons of our own custom quests containing many branches and twists so repeating them often feels new.
7) We enjoy a very high quality of people in our community . . . the 'village idiots' just don't do well here.
Today (and probably always) Ultima players lean toward the solo life in-game while occasionally interacting with others. That is common and we are no exception but we can say our citizens are extremely willing to help others, or to hunt or quest with each other and where necessary walk into danger for a friend.
We are capable of hosting hundreds online at any one time but never planned or hope to do so. We have had as many as 35 people online at the same time but we more commonly see 3 to 6. If we lack anything in size we make up for it in quality.
As of today we have 204 active game accounts (playing during the past 12 months to maintain an account) and we have 561 registered members on our Forum.
It is (and always has been) a lot of fun hosting UO-Traditions and interacting with so many great people. The plan is to keep UO-Traditions going as long as there is air *no end in sight*.
Cheers
