Archery training

I tried shooting the archery butte in Brit bowyer for a while last night with no gains. So the only other method I found was fighting creatures. I wasn't able to shoot a training dummy either. Is there a way I can macro my archery? Or have the training dummy allow ranged training included to allow skill gains?

Okay . . a few things.

Archery Buttes don't really work past 32 skill (if that). Also I am not sure what skill level you are at or if you are using a starter Training bow or some other bow.
NOTE: the Training Bows do not consume arrows and do almost no damage. You could use one on a cast or dog for hours. You could also use one on a trapped creature.

So . . Have you tried:
1) pulling the levers in the Melee Training pits then shooting at the resulting monster (they last 20 minutes and do not chase you).
2) shooting at the creatures in the Zoo (make sure a Tamers is not training there)
3) beyond that . . Archery is considered a Melee skill so you could follow the Melee training Guide at this 'link'       www.uoguide.com/Melee_Training_Guide

Now . . as far as setting up a training aid area on Arete to specifically help Archers (beyond general Melee), I may consider that although space for it is a bit limited. Let me sleep on it. *smiles*

Sounds good... I see the training weapons decay in 30 days. Is there any other way to obtain them (I tried crafting one, but to no avail). Purchase from a training vendor?

Okay . . We now have a small 'pit' for training Archery. This addition is located on the Isle of Arete in the Training Area near the small Magic Resist pits.

Thanks Tracina . . we hope this will be a help to all would be archers.

Note: The 'Training Weapons' (bow) for archery do not need arrows and do almost zero damage but they only last 30 days. The only way to get them is from new character creation. It seems clunky but if you have a character slot open you could delete a character after seven days and make a new one to get another set.
