Crafting

Hi all,

I just want to say I really love the graphics on this server and was really excited to make a crafter. I started doing the quests to get the legendary scrolls for fletching, mining, carpentry, smithing, lumberjacking, and tinkering. I placed a large tower and was excited to be able to craft at my house. I skilled up my tinkerer to be able to make the specialized tools. I reached high enough to be able to start with the carpenter's rule. To my dismay after grinding to reach that level I see I have a 0.5% chance of success. I went through all kinds of Yew wood trying to make one but of course the odds are against you. I don't want to play a game that seems like a job with all the grinding. Unfortunately, I am finding this to be true on Traditions. This is supposed to be entertainment. So, after saying that I must say goodbye to Traditions.

That's odd you only have 0.5% chance. I'm at 120 Tinkering and get a 5 point bonus at the crafting hall, I have a 76.2% Chance to make the Carpenter's Ruler. Are you at 105, with the 5 point bonus? That would be the bare minimum to create that tool. I almost think the home crafting tools are a "Congratulations, you're a Legendary Crafter" reward for reaching that pinnacle.

I'm sorry you feel that Traditions feels like a grind. If I feel something to be grindy, I take time to do other things, Tame, T-Maps, Dungeon Chests, Exploring, etc. Crafting is only a small part of Traditions.

Hey sound like you had a bad day. Sorry to hear that. Crafting has always been a grind so if you play UO you know that already. Took me a long time to make my tamer mage but i just played and made it fun doin it. Hope you not just a new player who got the free GM skills then cry you can't craft at home without doing some work. Getting from free GM to legendary is cake compared to gettin from 0 to 100.

If you can afford a castle you doing good so dont despair. Tomorrow always sunny.

My crafter is almost done bar a little cooking and it was a veritable walk in the park compared to what it took back in the day I made each specialised crafting tool as and when i had enough skill for a decent chance, it didnt take that long to get them all. I hope you changed your mind and decided to stay.

Yah that's my experience too. I think he just had a bad day. Also hope he'll give it another try when things get better.
