I was wandering if the weight of the ore could be set to the same weight a log could be, i mean i can carry around 500 logs but only 40 ore

While changing the weight of ore may seem simple, it is not that straightforward because of the different sizes of ore we have here and the way they can be smelted together.
There is an alternative to solve the resource weight challenges in the wilderness and that is the little red pouch called the "Resource Depot". That pouch can send resources from the wilderness into your bank box (similar to the little gold pouch sending Gold to your bank).
The "Resource Depot" pouch can be dropped as loot on 44 of the realm's quest monsters. It is also available as a '(one per account) Veteran Reward' after two months in the realm and is a random chance reward when 'Voting' for our shard in-game on one of the Voting Stones found at banks.
You also happen to have one in your backpack *Merry Christmas - smiles*
I know this may not be a perfect solution for everyone but I do hope the information is helpful.

There are also Fire Beetle's and Rideable Packhorses that both offer smelting of ore while your out in the wilderness. Neither require you to have taming to control, but do require taming to acquire.

Nice to know there is a recource pouch, on what type of monster and where does it drops?
Thank you for the pouch, this will help alot.
Does the pouch disapear when its out of charges or can i restore the charges again?
This fire beetle does it just carries the ore or is it like a portable forge and does the beetle melts the ore for me?

The resource pouch drops from the Medusa creatures which may be found in the swamps. I believe there is one Medusa in the swap north of Britain, and one in the swamps south of Destard. there are others we well, just need to do some exploring.
Be careful, though, the Medusa is not an easy one to kill, especially with all the other swamp creatures roaming around.
The beetle and the packhorse both have the capability to smelt the ore, very similar to a forge.
