Today we made an improvement to the Ancient Staff system for which we have to thank Xaneth. His request to have 'Staff Imbuing Potions' become 'Stackable' has led to an entire rework of that system.
As you may know . . crafters with the Fletching skill can use an 'Ancient Staff Carving Blade' (a crafting tool) to make twenty different 'Ancient Staves'. These staves have the 'Using Best Skill' property so they can be used to fight by any warrior and they can also be spellcrafted to add/improve properties. The interesting thing however is . . these staves also act like a spell wand and can be used to cast spells without magery or reagents.
- The 'Ancient Staff Carving Blades' have a chance to drop on the various wood Ents in the Lumberjack quest but can also be crafted by Tinkers.
- The 'Ancient Staves' that are crafted have by default a random number of spell charges (45 to 55).
- The 'Staff Imbuing Potions' used to be a simple resource needed to make the 'Ancient Staves' but here now is where (thanks to Xaneth) things have changed.
Now: 1) 'Staff Imbuing Potions' which drop after today (the new ones) are 'Stackable. 2) 'Staff Imbuing Potions' can now be stored in your 'Potion Mass Storage' containers. 3) 'Staff Imbuing Potions' that are older and not stackable can be added to a Mass Storage container making them stackable. 4) 'Staff Imbuing Potions' are no longer a simple resource. They can now be used to add/recharge the 'Ancient Staves' up to 100 charges. 5) 'Ancient Staves' are one handed weapons and can be used with sheilds.
The combination of these changes should make 'Ancient Staves' a more valuable weapon/tool for fighters/adventurers. They not only hit hard but they also cast some useful spells.
*Thank Xaneth for the input*
