Today scribes discovered they are able to create blank Recall Runes by using a Recall Scroll and some Fertile Dirt.

Any chance on making blank recall runes stack?

I will look at that but I believe the graphic used for Recall Runes prohibits stacking. If that is the case then I can look at editing the related .MUL files but we would need a Patch to bring it in (if it is possible). That by itself is probably not worth a Patch.

the other issue with stacked runes is weather or not it would mark the entire stack. if so would it be possible to get a carry able "rune bucket"

You can use the runebook 'basket' to carry runes as well as runebooks

target a stack of runes. one rune separates and becomes marked.

but at the expense of a complete patch not worth it.

Yes, but each rune occupies one of the 125 available slots in your back pack.  Would be nice to be able to carry 20-30 runes at a time without hogging up all our inventory...

I have an idea that fixes the problem. Hopefully...

Currently, we have scribes that can create runes with a recall scroll and a fertile dirt... What if it was set that mages with 110 skill or higher can do the same thing, which will alleviate the inventory problem. The only issue that would remain is that mage scrolls weight 1 stone, so carrying 40 recall scrolls will get cumbersome - Too Heavy. (Not sure if I spelled that correctly). Would be nice to be able to carry 100 Recall Scrolls and 100 Fertile Dirt and not be completely penalized. Maybe make them 0.5 Stones each.. This way, it makes Inscription handy to create or sell recall scrolls and Earth Elementals Handy to farm Fertile Dirt... (Or whatever creature drops it)...

Well it is complicated. So . . excuse me while I ramble . .

First of all the idea was from a crafter who believes (and I support) that crafters should be able to make as many of the things available as reasonable and possible. That is the primary reason I changed the Scribe menu so they could make recall runes. What Tracina is suggesting looks to be possible (I can reduce the weight of items . . Recall Scrolls and Fertile Dirt) but letting mages make recall runes would reduce that craft value to Scribes. On the other hand . . Mages making recall runes does seem to fit for the class. *hmmmm*

I looked carefully and tried to make recall runes stackable but I was right . . the graphic is hard coded not to do that. Also if it was possible it opens up other questsions like:
1) if you marked a stack would it mark them all?
2) what would happen if you dropped a stack on a runebook? Would you lose them all but one?

Let's pursue this as I think the answer could be useful.

What do crafters think . . should Mages be allowed to make Recall Runes as well as crafters? I can see some need for both.

Convenience is the goal here.

Using recall runes works as intended were just tired of looting and dragging blank runes around.
Rune stacking was brought up in the past I believe and the issue then was the graphic coded into the game as well.


Definitely not something I would pursue as urgent.

I wasn't thinking that scribes would miss out. Someone still needs to craft the recall scrolls.... That's the scribe portion. The mage at 110 (or better - whatever you feel is appropriate) uses the scribe crafted recall scroll to make a recall rune. I don't think the scribes should be left out of this. Scribes create a portion of the materials for the recall runes and the Mage basically puts the pieces together.

I can see a blank rune being created out of dirt but not one created out of paper.

I totally understanding the reasoning tho.

To be fair it will benefit players more if it were created with Fertile Dirt and casting recall or mark on it to create a blank rune.
but still this will require an extra item and weight when we can just buy blanks from vendors.
