Good Day,
Want to give you all a first person update from Texas as we deal with Winter Storm Uri (I actually did not know it had a name until someone referenced this early, I assume it is accurate but who knows).
We lost power Tuesday morning around 2:00am and were sitting in the living room around 11:00am that morning in a cold house (12F) with our three dogs, but safe and dry. I spoke with a colleague that informed me there was an Italian restaurant up the road with power so I figured, hey, let's go get some warm food in a warm place. So we gathered up and did just that. No sooner did we place our orders when we received a call from one of my mother in law's neighbors that water was "pouring out from the garage" at their house (she is in a nursing home so the house is currently unoccupied). So we modified our order to togo food and drove over there to see water all over the house, about 2 inches deep. So, we spent the next 3-ish hours vacuuming up water with shop vacs. Afterwards, I decided well hey, there is power in this house, so I will get the dogs and we can stay here while waiting for power to come back at our place. My daughter and I drive to our house to find 3 inches of water on our first floor. Without power we could not use the shop vacs, so we spent 4 hours sqeegeeing the water out the front door. We got most of it up, to my surprise, but the 1/2 of the downstairs that is carpet, that is another story.
So I now have all furniture moved and will be ripping up carpet for the next 2 days. The wood flooring? Glad you asked, every single piece is warped, so that will be ripped out soon.
All of this to say, I will be popping in and out as a distractor at variable rest times, but might not be on as much for the next few weeks. That, and I will be sending my laptop in for some repairs (the last guys used glue on my mother board, so there is that)
I dig this shard and enjoy the people here, so if I am gone for an extended period, don't fret, I will be back. And, in the next few days I will be around, iffin' ya wanna run something:)
