Oct 21, 2020 - Medeis Incantatrix Spellbook Update

This highly sought Spell book (from the Medeis Incantatrix Quest) used by some Mages to cast spells by using spoken 'Power Words' along with the use of 'Chanting Stones' instead of reagents. As you may recall . . the 'Chanting Stones' have a chance to drop on Tartarus creatures and possibly some quest monsters.

We have had input from some of our citizens (Alk, Yhaguen and Lucian) looking for some improvements to make this hard to obtain book more valuable. As a result it has just received a bump with the following changes:

1) Use of the book does required two skills (Magery and Spirit Speak). That has now been changed to Magery and Evaluate Intelligence)

2) One of the lesser used spells (Ethereal Realm) has been replaced with one potentially more useful (Charm Beasts). This new spell allows the caster to 'Charm' creatures to act as their pet and the Charmed creatures can be controlled without requiring any Animal Taming skill.

Note:
While this addition should be handy for our top magi, it does have some limitations:
- It can only be used on tamable creatures.
- Charmed creatures only remain for 3 minutes after which they dissipate and depart the realm.
- Only one creature can be Charmed at a time during the 3 minute Charm period.
- The caster cannot Charm creatures if they have any other followers.
- Use of the spell requires 81 Mana and 8 Chanting Stones.

More changes could in the future so this is not a closed issue.

UPDATE #1:

The Medeis Incantatrix Spellbook has changed again. The old (seldom used) spell to 'Identify' items has been dropped and a new spell inserted.

The new spell known as "Extol Spellbook" enables legendary mages to add/change properties to all 'regular' spellbooks in their packs. It may take a few attempts to end up with the combinations you want but eventually *with fingers crossed* you will get there.

The properties that can be added and/or altered are:
- Bonus Intelligence
- Bonus Mana
- Cast Recovery
- Cast Speed
- Lower Mana Cost
- Lower Reagent Cost
- Regen Mana
- Spell Damage Increase

When you Extol a spellbook all of the above properties might be added/changed at the same time.

We hope this addition is useful to the mages in the realm.

UPDATE #2:

To spell chant now you must have a 'Base' Legendary status in either [Magery-EvalInt] or [Magery-Spiritspeak] or [Necromancy-Spiritspeak] or [Necromancy-EvalInt]

Also . . the bug forcing the Medeis Incantatrix Spellbook message regarding required skills to be displayed when you try to talk has been fixed. No more false warings.

UPDATE #3:

Today we brought in a 'New' version of the Saint Elmo Medeis Incantatrix Spellbook. From today forward Saint Elmo will only be dropping the 'New' version.

What is the difference you ask? Well the new version applies all of the Stat bonuses when you hold the book (the old one only applied a few).

Anyone with one of the 'Old' versions can trade it with Amairgen for one of the 'New' versions.

Looking ahead . . We will be adding additional drops and rewards to the basic Incantatrix Quest to make it more fun and worth repeats.
