I'm just getting into fishing & have never done it before so i thought it'd be worth making a thread for questions & fun.
Anyone got any fun findings / epic pirate tales to tell?
I'll start off with 2 questions:
______
I've just discovered black lip pearl oysters, Anyone know what these are for?
I double click it & 1 turns into 10 black pearls.
Anything special or noteworthy about them other than that?
&
Where do i find Mibs, are these fished up or random drops off sea serpents & other sea elementals & creatures? ...
I'm on a hunt for treasure & adventure & the thrill of the wind in my face.

Pearls are used in crafting i believe. and every Kraken drops a MIB. there is one in the bottom east end of Dubious

Awesome!
I managed to get a Mib from a deep sea serpent yesterday & a fishing net from a Kraken.
Upon casting out my net, I dug up a water element. It was not best pleased.
The journey continues...

I've got MIBs from Krakens as well and each one will drop a fishing net. I've also gotten T-maps from something ive fished up . . .could be deep serpents or krakens, can't remember exactly
Here's a couple of Peregrine's high sea adventures for your amusement . . . Not so much a fun experience at the time but she was out hightailing it across the open water with the wind in her sails and happened to be travelling on the same east/west axis as one of those gruesome Krakens when it boarded her craft and proceeded to thoroughly ruin her day *grins* So my advice here would be to stop the boat immediately you see one of those heading straight for you so it doesn't come aboard or else it's curtains! Not a pretty sight . . . lol
She's also had a few run-ins with Captain Hook and his band of merry tormentors *grins* One time, they chased her all the way to the coast just north of Skara and managed to pin her boat against the coast. She teleported off the boat and recalled back to town for a stiff beer or three at the local. After some time, thinking they'd be long gone, she got back to the boat only to find them still there and she got her butt whipped LOL 6 against 1 is hardly a fair fight *wry smile* After rezzing, the one minute grace allowed her to lock the boat, teleport off, pack it up and give them all the one finger salute as she walked away *grins*
I love playing my Treasure Hunter . . . it's the most fun character template ive ever made in UO

Hey, can anyone tell me the difference other than colour of the special fishing nets in comparison to normal fishing nets?
Do they just fish out monsters?
I checked out uo-guide & i didn't notice that they were any different...
I've got a blue one & might save it if there's not much to using them?

Hmmmm Peregrine got a "special" fishing net once - it was either orange or yellow - but can't recall that it was any different to the normal green ones when she used it.
Maybe they too are random in what comes up??

Been a long long time since I put a worm on a hook but I think the special ones will spawn sea monsters to be killed and looted.

I was wondering if there is any difference between fishing SoS in Trammel or Tartarus. Is the loot the same? Bonus Loots in Tartarus?

Anything special or noteworthy about them other than that? black pearls are reagents used in alchemy insciption and magery. The rare white lipped oysters drop white pearls used as special crafting ingredients, keep fishing!

Riven set sail on a rain soaked day with the tools needed to try and catch a sea serpent renowned to have the fabled 'Message in a bottle' in their possession.
After only 10 minutes Riven was set upon by Pirates!, Not ordinary Pirates but fully trained and armed with weapons of great accuracy and power.
Not being trained in many fighting skills Riven had to weave and dodge the boat tailing him, Also he was able to manage his wounds with Aids and used his skill in Hiding to finally get away from them.
Much relieved to have survived to encounter the continued his search for the deep sea creature he was hunting for and shortly his perseverance paid off and a fight ensued, Using the fighting skills he had eventually the sea monster was beat, Holding his breath he opened the corpse only to find a few reagents and a old sword slightly disappointing tho having learned much for the next hunt he returned to his home ready for the rest he had earned (Also probably a beer or two).
