Hello all!
Returning after a long break and was hoping someone could fill me in on a few things.
1 To hunt T-Maps what skills are mandatory and which are just "nice" to have? I'd assume lockpick and cartography are mandatory. Do you "have" to have remove trap or detect hidden? (I'm asking about chests level 4+, not ones that you can use magery to unlock).
2 There seem to be floating icons that you equip above your left hand. Do those take the same slot as shields? It seems like the one I found conflicted with having a shield equipped.
3 Are there bard books available for songs / abilities beyond just the use of the bardic skills. If so how useful have you found those?
4 Any suggestions on where to hunt for gold / droppables worth having being a new player? I have 0 issues killing basic dragons, lich Lord's, demons. Definitely not ready to do the pvp facet.
5 Where can I try and farm 105-110 power scrolls?
6 Is poisoning of much use in pvm?
7 Does inscription just add 10% to spell damage at GM, or are there other combat benefits?
8 Any other thoughts or suggestions for a newly returning / rusty player?

Hi ugmar
I'm new here and still finding/feeling my way around UO after a 15 year absence but wanted to give you a warm welcome :-)
I too am interested in your #1 enquiry...I've made a T-Hunter for the first time ever and still training her up so any feedback that more experienced players here can provide will be helpful to me also
Hope you enjoy your return

1. Cartography and Lock Picking are the only required skills needed to decode, dig and open the chest. Mining - will increase Dig radius so you don't have to be dead nuts center on the dig location. Remove Trap - is not required but it has it's uses. Detect Hidden - has done nothing for the players reporting having it.There is no hidden loots that I know of.
2. I believe those icons your referring to are Talismans and they shouldn't restrict you hands. You want to keep an eye out for ones that have a Slayer property as well as ones that increase damage.
3. The Ancient Bard Songs and abilities can be found on the Forum. A few of the Songs like Mages Ballad may be useful
4 and 5. Powerscrolls drop off lots of different mobs and are also rewarded from quests. Covetous level 2 there is a -Night Terror Guardian- that has a decent drop rate for powerscrolls and sometimes artifacts. -Bucephalus Guardian- spawns randomly on the Tartarus world map check near the Shrine of Sacrifice. -Vile Basilik- Only in Tartarus Dungeons !Very Dangerous! but there are many locations so they will be easier to find.
6. Yes it has uses but you will find that 80% of the mobs are immune to poison.
7. Inscription adds Spell Damage, benefits reactive armor, protection and spellreflect, 8. Blessed gear is fairly easy to acquire so find a set and hunt down some Tradian Mobs in Tartarus.
Most of all Have fun and if you have any input or suggestions from you adventures please share.

Thank you for your replies! Lots of great information for me.
The talisman I found was red and added to spirit Speak and necromancy, and definitely prevented me from equipping a shield at the same time as a spell book. So not sure if I was doing something wrong or what.
I have killed the horse in covetous a few times. Wasn't too bad but never got much of interest. I'll keep farming there though as it seems a great place for my current skill level.
What's the focus on tradium mobs? I got a few tradium coins from something I did (maybe shard voting?).
Are artifacts best obtained from specific mobs, treasure chests, or should I just do quests?
Not sure where I land on capabilities but I was able to kill an ancient worm with a little work (3-5 minutes, no risk of dying, just struggled to keep up with his healing), and the horse in covetous was a man's bar of nuking to kill with limited risk. I see a lot of quests are rated on 1-5 and any idea where that places me would be helpful.

Great place to point me for more information, thanks!
I have started doing some more forums diving. I just see a lot of it is years and years old. Is that still mostly relevant, or is it so outdated due to lots of changes that I should disregard information posts from 2013?
I killed the horse in covetous a few more times and did some deeper dungeon dives. Ended up with my first power scroll and a handful of minor artifacts!
One question. If I do the corpse collection into my loot bag, will it auto collect artifacts? A follow up question, is there anything other than the "[cl -t" command to tell my bag what I want looted? Like a way to say "all reagents" or some such? Or all instruments?
Thanks for all the information. It's been fun hunting through the old dungeons!

The forums can be a bit tricky to navigate so check the post date. Most of the information is accurate tho.
Loot bag will only grab what is set to the list.
When you kill a Tradian Monster there is a chance an artifact or other reward will go strait into your pack. Tradian Coins are used to purchase items off -=Lord Hart=- locaited in the Britian Throne Roon.

Loot bag will only grab what is set to the list. This is true. You need to add each specific item to your Loot Bag menu. Also . . be careful not to lose your Loot Bag or else yopu will have to get a new one and reset all the items again for it. The 'News' Board is a good noard to check as it shows all changes as they get added. Cheers
