Okay . . a couple of things to hopefully improve life *grins*
Two changes for Mass Storage: 1) The Mass Storage container for Scribes will now accept Spellweaving Scrolls. 2) The Mass Storage container for Cooks will now accept Corn, Lettuce, Onions and Turnip.
Also . . Two changes making more sense to the requirements for Pottery Making: 1) The Book of Masonry can now be read by both GM Cooks and GM Carpenters. 2) Pottery making is now dependent on the Cooking skill only (Carpentry no longer needed)
Cheers

Never the less they were asked for and we don't have to eat (or drink) because it always bugged me. *smiles*
If you do not collect these items then don't put them in your storage *hehe* If anyone does then this reduces world item count and helps Save times.

OSI always denied it had anything to do with skill gain or performance but my personal experience makes it seem like it does have an effect.

I am unaware that hunger or thirst have any affect (positive or negative). I cannot 100% guarantee that but to my knowledge it has been turned off.
If there is a difference . . it may be that some people have more confidence on a full stomach *smiles*

No. I have not played since I started working on this shard. I did play actively before that and I also have some player characters set up on a Test Server to test scripts before moving them to the live shard.
