So I tried to unlock the boxes in the gypsy camp and couldn't do it even after training lockpicking. I was wondering if the boxes are made with different tinker levels or if they are all the same what level lockpicking do I need to start training it there?

At the Gypsy camp there are different types of containers.
1) NOTE: the LockPicking Chests are labled for the different skill levels and they are inside some of the Gypsy wagons. I recommend buying Lockpicking up to 32 skill first.
2) The Barrels (and a few crates) have items inside so you can train Stealing
3) The crates to the far east of the Gypsy Camp are for training Trap Removal and Detect Hidden

you can train off those chests even with 0 skill. Make sure you are at the right containers

I've gotten to 115 picking sofar off the Gypsy camp crates. but time can be better spent looting the chest rooms in Tartarus.

I created a 120 Tinker/Carp lock box and gave that a whirl, and didn't get any gains, so I went to the gypsy camp and don't see any lockpicking boxes over 90. Will these 81-90 boxes raise our skill over 100? I currently have 120 skill cap and would like to raise this for easier treasure hunting. Is the 120 tinker/carp exceptional box better for skill gains (just very slow?)??
I usually tend to watch for a 0.1 gain to be sure it's working, but I haven't seen any gains so far...

Two points to know here: 1)If your Lockpicking skill is at 100 then in order to gain Lockpicking above 100 you need to be picking 'Dungeon Chests'. UoGuide.com confirms this. 2)Otherwise, you can visit the Arete Gypsy Village trapped Satyr and get discorded a few times to temporarily lower certain skills like Lockpicking then use the appropriate locked boxes in the village caravans to raise your skill. When the Discord effects wear off you will still enjoy any gains you got while discorded. 3) or . . You can always search/trade/buy 'Skill Balls' |
