We continue to add new things, new features and also refresh the old to add new fun.
As many of our citizens know . . Champions work a bit differently on UO-Traditions and now we have made some overdue improvements.
1) But first . . for those who may not know:
The outer islands of Malas (with the little bridges) were claimed by the Champions and are their sole domain. The 'little bridges' were removed so to reach the islands and a Champion Altar you need to talk to Roland the Paladin in the Paladin's Guild of Trinsic near the Travel Coach and Stable.
To gain Roland's favor you (or your group) will need to find the three 'Essences of Life' that he requires. The 'Essences' are held by helpers of the Harrower and can be found in random dungeons. You never know which three dungeons you will be required to visit but Roland will tell you (make a note so you don't forget).
When you return to Roland with all three Essences he will then offer you a special Gate to the Champion of your choice. He will also give you a special Token to use on the Champion Altar to start the Champion Spawn (Champion spawns do not require staff to start them).
2) And now . . All Champions have become 'True Champions' meaning they are no longer a breeze to defeat. They spawn with a wide variety of templates and special abilities so you cannot count on what you might face. It may be possible for the best to solo them but not without a serious and expensive fight. Test yourselves if you like but the Champion Islands are more properly a realm for adventuring groups.
In addition to these changes . . the Champions will now drop a Reward Bag in the backpack of those who do enough damage to them during the battle. The reward bags contain some things of value plus one of five special clothing items. These clothing items will bear the name of the damager(s) as well as other embroidered text and some useful properties. While many may seek the items that proclaim they 'Soloed' a Champ, the best items drop to Group members and the best of the best are for Groups of three or more people.
We hope these changes will renew interest in Champions and encourage more Group activity.
NOTE:
- There is 'No Cool Down' period on the Champions
- If you start a Champion Spawn please be kind and clean it up before departing the area.
Cheers
