Hiya guys. On my explorations, I found something pretty insane, and I'm going to keep the location on the down-low until Amairgen gets to see this and give his two cents. Meet the Ancient Rune Beetle! But wait, there's more to it than meets the eye... Yes, that's a large amount of health (he blessed himself so hp is roughly 150-200 lower than that). And yes, it's a 3 slot pet. It's a rune beetle with super inflated health! Kinda neat I guess. I personally would rather these things be super damage-oriented instead but hey, it's kinda cool. Also, curiously... Ones like this spawned in the same spot and are 5 slots, but have dragon roars (they are reskinned greater dragons with a twist). Also, do note that the second one does lose max hp after being tamed, BUT... They are capable of doing this... So... I legitimately have no idea how it's happening, but it happens while it fights. It's doing something to increase its resistances to absurd levels, making it so tanky that it takes virtually no damage against specific enemies when this happens. HOWEVER this doesn't last that long and the pet itself does not do insane damage on its own, it does roughly normal greater dragon damage with the usual spells and bleed effects, but has this temporary resistance buff in its toolset as well. Thoughts? And like I said, on the off chance no one else has ever seen this before, I'm wanting Amairgen to take a look at this first before I give away the location of these things. Also, they will be on display in Arete near the crafthall if anyone wants to walk by and lore them.

I know where those are found and ya they seem a bit "buggy" <----ha. and in no way would sharing it's location break the server. nor would it allow the tamer to even be considered equal with the other classes.
Taming really only requires 225 skill in tame and lore to use the biggest baddest pets. so it's understandable the pets were nerfed. However.... in every boss battle the pet is 100% useless.
a quest no matter what quest it may be...... should be possible with any class..

. . . . . On my explorations, I found something pretty insane, and I'm going to keep the location on the down-low until Amairgen gets to see this and give his two cents. . . . . . Okay *two cents* I appreciate the skillful eyes and the honest heart *smiles* I found the Spawner responsible for these . . interesting. It is one of the spawners designed by my friend who spawned Tartarus. I have no idea if he had tamers in mind when he set them up but I must say I love his work and the unexpected fun that results. In this case it may be a bit off so I added my touch to the spawner. Now: 1) when the creature dies you should get the correct Corpse name 2) the heavy ones will take 5 slots Play with it and test it then let me know your thoughts.

I'll test them out some more and see what they can do. First impression is I think they aren't broken (like alk said), but the design of the "tanky" variant is a cool idea. The smaller slot one is essentially just a regular rune beetle with more hp, which is neat because I like the rune beetle's base design but I think it'd be more interesting if the beetle adopted a damage path as offense is normally the rune beetle's forte. That being said, I do think the tanky variant is a nice basis for a pet that is dedicated to being tanky, so it's all very interesting. It sorta fits with the "beetle" theme since you could say the tanky one is retracting into its shell or hardening its shell when it increases its resistances, but it might be cooler on another creature potentially. However, if the ancient rune beetle is set on the path of tankiness, that's fine too.
Also of note, the tanky version does not poison, which is odd for a rune beetle.
The version that got bumped into a 5 slot pet feels very weak though, the bonus health is nice and all but it's still got lower resistances so the bonus hp doesn't mean as much.

I never said broken.. I said "buggy" because it was puny.

I said broken because you said they wouldn't break the server The tanky beetle feels kind of useful, but that's probably because it's a greater dragon at heart. I didn't see it use the resistance buff much when using it on various enemies, so it might be rare or on a long cooldown. The "normal" rune beetle version that got bumped up to 5 slots and 115.2 taming requirement feels weak. Its hp doesn't mean much when it fights anything strong since it has lower resistances. It also doesn't do any more damage than a normal rune beetle so it's pretty lackluster in both regards. My version is still a 3 slot version and I can't imagine ever using it with the bumped up slot requirement. The only reason I'd use it right now (as a 3 slot) is for its armor corruption and the fact it has so much more hp than a normal rune beetle (basically for the same reasons as if i'd use a normal rune beetle anyways), but i'd gladly trade 2/3rds of its hp for it to do more damage. (It might be strong against dreadhorn I guess since high poison resist) I could see it doing much more damage and being a 3-4 slot pet, pushing it down the dps route but removing most of the hp bonus. As it is right, now the hp bonus doesn't mean much. The tanky version may be cool on another pet, or the other "normal" version of the beetle could be removed. But the bonus resist stuff would have to be checked since it's inconsistent and makes the beetle feel like just another greater dragon when it doesn't use it.

Added Drow Dragon stats and such, added most of unicorn info. Don't have max stats yet. If anyone wants their Drow dragon to be the picture then feel free to post a pic of yours.

What did you train it on and how long did it take.
Also, arent damages supposed to add up to 100 like each one is a percentage of the damage done ?
One of the ancient rune beetles has 100%, the other adds up to 100%, the ancient unicorn adds up to 180%, the drow dragon you show adds up to 150%.

Certain pets do more than 100% damage. Chargers do 200%, for example. Drows do 150% total, EVO Unicorns are 180%.
I left the true identity of the stages a mystery because it's more fun seeing it transform and having it be a small surprise I think. Considering the training itself is dull.. Kinda helps.
I've just been using the Swampy guys above the arete zoo, I can add where to train them easily to the post itself.

I just found an animal that might be tamable and it might be a packhorse, its a demonic war horse.

Yes, those are the steeds that the shadowy guys ride in the center of hedge-maze. They're tamable but very weak and are not usable by non-tamers, they need 60.1 taming. I thought I showed you one in Arete at the Crafthall. I showed a couple people the other day.

yes u did show me one, how many slots did it have. Were u able to tame the dire rats, dire boars, dire bears or any of the shadow pixies ?

Yes I was able to tame all of those except for the pixies. Dire bears are actually pretty interesting but at the end of the day they are just a worse pack animal than the majestic ostard, however they could do pretty decent damage as a group since their base damage is the same as a rune beetle and they have the bear pack instinct. They are cool, for sure. The rats and boars are super weak but also decently cool.
The demon pack horse took 3 slots. It can hold items but unfortunately can't be used by non-tamers like I said before. Otherwise it's quite cool riding around on a true ethereal mount.
I'm going to add the majestic ostard, ancient rune beetles, ice steed, and any other of the more useful non-exalted pets to a non-exalted list soon.
